I dissect layers of non-verbal social interaction by performing for the camera and by aiming my lens at cultural signifiers of power. The work is autobiographical to some degree and imaginary to another. The character that keeps surfacing is a sort of mid-twentieth-century-suburban-guy, who is now beset by contemporary questions of traditional roles, identity, generalized shame and confusion. The images provoke anxiety and fear through humor. In a world fraught with latent desires, roles and social dynamics, I work to expose them. Nobody and no place is allowed to be purely one thing or another. I explore the many spaces in between.
